We help students learn to read, and to love reading!
At our CI Book Club, we aim to create a vibrant and engaging community where young readers can explore the world of literature through a Christian lens. We believe in the power of stories to inspire, educate, and entertain.
Our club is designed specifically for 6-8th grade students, who are eager to discover and discuss books that align with their faith and values. Through our carefully curated book selections, we strive to foster spiritual growth, encourage critical thinking, and provide a safe space for meaningful conversations.
Here’s what you can expect from our CI Book Club:
- Thoughtful Book Selections: Our team of dedicated volunteers carefully selects books that not only entertain but also offer valuable lessons and insights rooted in Christian principles. From contemporary fiction to classic literature, each book is chosen to encourage thoughtful exploration of faith-related themes.
- Engaging Discussions: We believe that books come alive when we discuss them with others. Our book club meetings provide a platform for young readers to share their thoughts, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations about the books we read. Through respectful dialogue, we aim to deepen our understanding and enrich our faith.
- Faith-Based Activities: In addition to discussing books, we organize various faith-based activities to enhance the reading experience. These may include Bible study sessions, character analyses, journaling prompts, or creative projects that allow members to express their thoughts and connect with the themes explored in the books.
Join us on this exciting journey of reading and faith! Whether your child is an avid reader or just starting to explore the world of books, CI Book Club is a welcoming and inclusive community where they can grow spiritually, make new friends, and discover the joy of reading through a Christian lens.
We look forward to having you as part of our book club family!

City Impact (CI) Literacy
Next Session Beginning This Fall
Enroll your child in CI Literacy. We help them cultivate a love for reading, enhance their critical thinking, and deepen their faith through engaging literary experiences.
The CI Literacy program measurably increases reading and writing rates in hundreds of Lincoln’s K-8 youth annually. As an extension of the Lincoln Public Schools’ current curriculum, we’ve developed and implemented instructional practices based on Enhanced Core Reading Instruction (ECRI).CI literacy aims to provide children with a holistic education integrating faith, literacy skills, character development, and a deeper understanding of Christian values and beliefs.
Through our CI Literacy Program, CI students will learn a variety of lessons and skills including:
Reading Comprehension: Through reading Christian literature and biblical passages, CI Literacy helps students enhance their reading skills, improve comprehension, and expand their vocabulary.
Cultural Appreciation: By exploring Christian literature from various cultures and time periods, CI students will gain a broader perspective and develop an appreciation for the diverse heritage and traditions within the Christian faith.
